ABOUT EVELYN

Artist Statement

Painting and drawing have always been a rewarding part of my life. My 6th grade teacher called my parents one day, and complained that I wasted paper drawing. Maybe I was bored with his teaching!

 

In high school I was encouraged by my art teacher who let a few of her students paint during lunch hour. I also coordinated all of the dance decorations during junior and senior year with my team of friends, who helped implement getting the job done. 

 

After 24 years of teaching, First, Fourth, Special Ed, and Adult Ed Decorative Art classes, I retired from San Diego CA, to Pine, AZ. I am really drawn to painting in Watercolor, and the natural sandstone formations of the Four Corners Country is a definite inspiration. One highlight I had while living in this part of the Southwest was being Artist-in-Residence at Hubbell Trading Post, May 21st-June 13th, 2015. I also enjoyed the Ghost Ranch Watercolor Retreat and Plein Air Paint out in Escalante, UT.
