PHYLICIA MCCORMACK

About Phylicia

 My story begins . . .

At an early age, I had a love for art, but my dad tried to discourage me by saying that I wouldn’t amount to anything if I pursued it. After graduating from high school in Maryland, I continued my artist path by applying and being accepted at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. I graduated in 1976 in the field of Visual Communication for which I obtained

I moved to California to seek out my dream of one day working at Walt Disney Art Studios as an illustrator or fine artist, but life had a different plan for me by starting a family. I kept my art alive by occasionally drawing/painting for friends and small business owners. After several years had gone by, even though the dream never happened, I still had the love and the desire to express myself through my art.

For most of my life my talent was directed toward using pen & ink, pencil, charcoal, watercolor wash, and pastels in drawings, sketches, and paintings. By living in places like Nevada, Utah, and now Payson, Arizona, I have developed a certain style & technique that improves in each of my new projects which mainly focus on wildlife, landscape, western scenes, and sometimes even family pets. I thank God that I didn’t give up my artist path as He inspires me with the beauty that surrounds us all.
